ISO 45003 to Support Mental Health in the Workplace

ISO 45003 to support mental health in the workplace will be a new addition to the growing ISO 45000 family. On 15th January 2021 the draft (DIS) ISO 45003 standard was approved for registration as a Final Draft International Standard or FDIS. This standard is due to be published this Summer and is called;

ISO 45003: Occupational health and safety management.

Psychological health and safety at work: managing psychosocial risks. Guidelines

Developed to support the ISO 45001 management systems standard it forms a useful addition to the now developing ISO 45000 family of standards on Occupational Health and Safety.

Designed with the same 10 clause structure of ISO 45001, ISO 45003 is intended to give practical guidance, including actions, to help an organisation manage psychosocial issues in the work environment, whether that is in the organisation’s workplace, or where many people are currently working from, the home environment.

The FDIS is considered to be “technically accurate” and will be very near to the published standard. For those wondering whether to buy it, the FDIS currently costs £20, once published it will be the same price as other published standards. For £20, it's definitely worth buying now
